EPDM Rubber Flat Roof Repair – Burton

LOCATION: Burton upon Trent

PROPERTY TYPE: Bungalow Dormer

JOB DESCRIPTION: EPDM Rubber Roof Installation

The customer initially contacted Burton Flat Roofing for a quote to repair a dormer flat roof. The roof, which was only four years old and had been installed by a rogue builder, was leaking in several places.

Upon inspection, the roof was found to be a L-shaped dormer that had been poorly installed. We advised the customer to strip the roof off completely, removing the old felt and boards.

The customer was sent a quote and accepted the job.

On the day the job began, the roof was stripped down to the roof timbers. Once stripped, it was discovered that the timbers that had been fitted were the incorrect size, making the roof unstable. Additionally, the middle of the roof had a three-inch drop, causing it to be uneven and holding three inches of water on the roof surface.

The customer was informed of these issues, and we agreed that new timbers should be fitted. The new timbers were eight by two inches in size and were designed to provide greater support and make the roof level.

After the new timbers were fitted, the roof was boarded correctly with a complete flat surface. Epdm rubber with a 1.2mm thickness was installed as the roofing membrane, followed by drip trims and upstands to complete the flat roof.

The flat roof now comes with a standard 20-year warranty for workmanship and the Epdm rubber.
